How many people can live in a low-rent housing apartment?

The number of people in the household (individuals, a couple or a family) determines the type of apartment and number of rooms that can be provided:
- A studio apartment for a person living alone;
- A one-bedroom apartment for a person living alone or a couple;
- One additional bedroom for each additional person
However, only one bedroom is provided for:
- 2 children under the age of 7
- 2 children under the age of 14 of the same sex, as long as their age difference is no more than 6 years.
- Is it possible to get an additional room for a member of the household with a disability?

An additional bedroom can be provided to a person with a disability whose deficiency or method of alleviating a disability prevents the bedroom from being shared.
- Can we have a separate bedroom for a child in shared custody?

Yes, an additional bedroom can be provided for a child whose custody is shared but only if the child lives in the household in question at least 40% of the time.
- Why is it that only people named on the lease can live in the apartment?

The size of your apartment is based on the number of people you listed on the lease. Also, your rent is calculated according to the income of everyone who lives with you. Therefore, only the people named on the lease may live in the apartment.
- What do I do if the composition of my household changes?

If the composition of your household changes, you must advise us in writing. We use this information to provide you with the size of apartment that meets occupancy standards. We also use it to reach an accurate calculation of the amount of your rent.
- What do I do if I want to transfer to a different apartment?

- Are we allowed to have a pet?

Pets are allowed in OMHM apartments. Outside the apartment, pets must always be kept on a leash. They must not bother or injure other tenants, or damage OMHM property. Pet droppings must always be picked up.
Building rules
The building rules form part of the lease. They outline the rights and obligations of tenants and the responsibilities of the OMHM. Their purpose is to ensure good sanitation in the buildings, protect tenant safety and maintain harmonious cohabitation.
- Can I smoke cannabis in my building?

Tenants, members of households and anyone allowed access into the building or into your apartment are strictly prohibited from smoking cannabis in common areas inside or outside the building, including community balconies and common balconies. Cannabis may be smoked inside your apartment, on your private balcony or in your private yard only. However, excessive cannabis use is prohibited, and shall not interfere with enjoyment of the premises by other tenants.
